Seaford Head

Seaford Head is the best spot to enjoy the iconic view of the majestic Seven Sisters cliffs. Please be aware of there have been significant cliff falls near Hope Gap, so please take care. Seaford Head is managed by the Sussex Wildlife Trust in partnership with Seaford Town Council, the site owners.

This nature reserve is part of the the Seaford Head to Beachy Head Site of Special Scientific Interest, designated for its outstanding biological and geological feature. The geology here is particulary unusual with a layer of sand overlying chalk cliffs. This results in rare communities of both chalk and acid-loving plants growing together, with rare butterflies, bees and other insects.

The Trust has re-introduced grazing and is managing the scrub to conserve chalk grassland plants and the insects they support.

We welcome volunteers to help us carry out work on this nature reserve - please contact Sarah Quantrill
