Forest Schools for home educated children

Suitable for children aged 5-11 years old.

Children will learn to become confident in an outdoor setting, learn basic woodcraft skills and fire lighting, and explore the natural surroundings.

The Forest School approach will offer opportunities for child led experiences, developing self-confidence and social skills whilst enabling creativity and a respect for nature and other people.

Regular participation could lead to your child attaining the John Muir Award, a non-competitive environmental certificate.

Parents attending with children aged 5-8 will have an opportunity to meet and share ideas around the campfire while the children are engaged in their activities.

£8 Sussex Wildlife Trust members £9 non-members.

There is a wealth of wildlife at Chesworth with highlights including reptiles and the minibeasts of the pond- not to mention the resident llamas - so we will aim to encourage an interest in this local nature whilst providing drink and snack, plus lots of mud and fun activities for all.

Stanmer Park:

Highlight activities include invertebrate identification techniques, den building, creative learning and problem solving using natural materials.
